Reading the press releases and the company’s presentation, it’s clear that Coda Music is not just another streaming platform. Its grand ambitions are rooted in ethics and a focus on artists, aiming to create a platform where the human dimension is omnipresent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clear goals<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Coda Music’s objective is crystal clear: to provide an alternative to established platforms like Spotify<\/a> and Apple Music<\/a>. These platforms often offer low compensation to artists and heavily rely on artificial intelligence. Coda Music, on the other hand, aims to be an ethical alternative while still offering all the features expected from a streaming platform.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Artists like Eric Clapton and Evanescence have adopted Coda Music, helping promote it and drive word of mouth. Not insignificant: the platform benefits from major licenses and thus offers a massive catalog of songs<\/strong>. While the launch is now official in the United States and Canada, Coda Music is preparing for an arrival in Europe and Asia in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is Coda Music, how can you access it? An artist-centric platform!<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Coda Music’s promise is simple, but challenging to implement: putting artists back at the center of the equation<\/strong>. This requires two significant measures. The first is the promise to offer higher compensation than all other streaming platforms<\/strong>. The second is the ability for Coda Music subscribers to donate one dollar from their subscription each month to an artist of their choice. The pricing<\/a> for these subscriptions is in line with competitors: an Individual plan is $10.99 per month, and a Family Plan is $16.99 per month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In practice, Coda Music promises that artist compensation can be between 10 and 100 times higher than the market rate. These are fine words, but they don’t translate, for the moment, into verifiable figures. But they at least have the merit of existing! In addition to these remuneration methods, Coda Music offers managers, rights holders, and other music professionals tools to manage their catalogs in real time<\/strong>, as well as reports on the impact of their music on fan communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Socials!<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Coda Music also works with social media features directly integrated into artist pages<\/strong>. This is a way for artists to create live interaction and exchange, and to promote their music, beyond the usual social media platforms. They will also be able to sell merchandise and derivative products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Coda, posts are meant to be organic, never paid, and stand in contrast to traditional marketing strategies. In return, fans can share what they’re listening to in real time and interact with like-minded listeners<\/strong>. Human discovery? While this made sense twenty years ago, it’s clear that streaming platforms have long since abandoned this in favor of algorithms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their motto? “From the crowd, not the cloud.” A beautiful phrase that ultimately sums up Coda Music’s promise: in an increasingly digitalized world, where humanity is being lost, returning to the basics is not only necessary but could prove beneficial for artistic creation.
