Soundiiz’s history, vision, and ethics
When Soundiiz launched in France in 2013, after months of work by two French engineers, the ambition was the same as it is today: to be a platform that simplifies the daily lives of millions of music lovers. By providing them with previously unavailable tools, the two founders addressed a need: to organize, manipulate, and customize their music to their liking, at a time when music streaming had just revolutionized the industry.
As streaming services proliferated and amassed millions of streams, users were forced to choose between several platforms. And at that time, choosing meant giving up and/or renouncing. And above all, staying put, for fear of losing all the accumulated data. By allowing everyone to transfer their data between platforms, Soundiiz puts its users first and lets them move their data however they want.
At that time, illegal downloading was rampant, depriving artists and their labels of a colossal source of revenue. Files were freely exchanged, piracy was widespread, and streaming services enabled the legal distribution of music. In this context, Soundiiz made a point of working closely with these services, adapting its offerings to the realities of the platforms and their audiences. And it worked.
A matter of trust
The major streaming platforms quickly placed their trust in us and saw us as a potential ally. By allowing all users to transfer their playlists from one platform to another, we facilitate decision-making and can tip the scales in favor of one service over another. In 2015, when TIDAL launched, the American company placed its trust in Soundiiz and featured us as a partner on its website. By 2026, it’s clear that this work has paid off. With Qobuz, Soundiiz continues to work hand in hand with artists and music platforms to ensure a music streaming environment with the highest ethical standards. And remember: as a French-made platform, we rely on the European General Data Protection Regulation, the most robust in the world.
Soon, competitors to Soundiiz emerged. They also capitalized on the ability to transfer data between platforms. And recently, other players have shaken up the market: AI-powered services that promise to transfer all possible data from one platform to another.
But without ever fully succeeding.
What Soundiiz can do that AI can’t and won’t – The vibe coding issue
But there’s a catch with these AI tools: none of them are reliable or robust enough to handle complex, voluminous data. None of them has Soundiiz’s track record, experience, adaptability, and precision. You can’t replace 13 years of experience and partnerships with a few lines of code. Nothing can.
Our services for transferring, downloading playlists, generating SmartLinks, and managing music databases are the result of daily work and constant improvements. They are also the consequence of partnerships with streaming platforms and legal access to their APIs (Application Programming Interfaces), which allow us to connect to Spotify, Deezer, Apple Music, and others. The AI tools are not. They are generated using what’s called vibe coding. By employing Generative Artificial Intelligence, vibe coding enables users, via a chatbot, to write code to build software. From scratch, with nothing but a desire. No legal framework, no specific skills required, and no attention to the specificities of each market. Some users don’t even know how to read the generated code and therefore can’t detect its flaws.
If misused, vibe coding makes complex and potentially dangerous tools available to anyone. Because that’s the problem: some softwares developed using Vibe coding do indeed reach the market. And they are being used. Sometimes by thousands of people.
No legal frame
AI-generated services often lack Terms of Service, don’t legally use streaming platform APIs, and haven’t been approved by the platforms. Therefore, they are, by definition, illegal. And consequently, unstable. They are also subject to a limited lifespan. Furthermore, they are inefficient.
We tested them: data transfers between platforms are wildly inaccurate, resulting in the loss of numerous songs or playlists. This is not surprising: the transfer technique is complex and requires years of experience to execute effectively. And we don’t know how these services manage to access the streaming platform’s API Keys. They were not obtained legally. Some keys are available illegally on Reddit and other websites, creating a black market that is getting out of control.
Limiting data loss between services is the very essence of Soundiiz and one of its reasons for existing. While no system is perfect, Soundiiz continuously updates and refines its mapping codes to minimize errors, ensuring the highest possible accuracy even in challenging cases.

What are the consequences?
The consequences can be alarming: users entrust their data to these programs and lose control over its use. Handling personal data cannot be done without authorization, oversight, and within a regulatory framework.
