In the frantic race for the throne of the most listened-to music streaming platform, all services are redoubling their efforts and adding new features to an already extensive offering. Deezer, one of the most widely used in France and with major international ambitions, has unleashed an arsenal of new options. What are Deezer’s new features?

We explain it all to you!
Deezer’s new features: why?
Deezer is undoubtedly on the up and has big ambitions. After years of concentrating on the French market, Deezer has decided to conquer the world. And these efforts are beginning to pay off. In 2024, Deezer turned a profit for the first time in its history. Experts predict that the platform could soon become profitable. The signals are positive from a business point of view but also in terms of Deezer’s image, its international reach, and its positioning as an innovative platform.
Beyond adding new features, this translates into the announcement, at the beginning of 2025, of a new way of thinking about music streaming. Based on an artist-centric approach, the details we explain here, Deezer hopes to change how rights holders are remunerated.

It gives a big kick in the anthill to a music streaming world that has been criticized for years for a system that benefits the platforms or the massively listened-to artists but leaves only crumbs for the others. It’s still too early to tell whether Deezer will succeed in bringing this change to fruition, but for the moment, the signals are green.
Artists-centered
Deezer is also trying to combat music generated by Artificial Intelligence. Here, too, the aim is to promote artistic creation and fight against the replacement of artists by machines. In a press release published on its website, Deezer claims that 18% of music production uploaded since January 2025 is the work of AI. That’s over 20,000 songs a day. This is colossal.
“AI-generated content continues to flood streaming platforms like Deezer, and we see no sign of it slowing down,” said Aurelien Herault, Chief Innovation Officer. “Generative AI has the potential to impact music creation and consumption positively, but we need to approach the development with responsibility and care in order to safeguard the rights and revenues of artists and songwriters, while maintaining transparency for the fans. Thanks to our cutting-edge tool we are already removing fully AI generated content from the algorithmic recommendations.”

In addition to these paradigm shifts, Deezer faces competition that is also sharpening its weapons. In an increasingly fierce world, you must constantly innovate to keep pace with your ambitions. Against this backdrop, Deezer has just unveiled several new features, which could cause a stir and force its competitors to catch up.
What are Deezer’s new features?
The first significant evolution concerns its algorithm. We know that algorithms are more than ever the key for streaming platforms: with an effective recommendation system, playlists as close as possible to individual tastes, and an optimal personalized experience, users likely won’t want to go elsewhere. Deezer understands this and, in the coming weeks, will unveil an algorithm that can be customized by each user, putting you in the driver’s seat. For example, managing the recommendations in “Flow” playlists will be possible. With the addition of a “dislike” button, you can ask Deezer to stop playing you songs by a particular artist or group.

Therefore, Deezer playlists will be based on your listening habits and the parameters you enter manually.
My Deezer Month
The second feature is a monthly summary of each user’s statistics. Inspired by Spotify’s annual Spotify Wrapped and Apple Music’s Replay and its own recap, Deezer is introducing My Deezer Month. This feature will enable users to consult and share their monthly statistics, fostering community and shared experiences. The social dimension has become a key to success for most streaming services, and My Deezer Month is no exception. A clever marketing strategy that will enable Deezer to benefit from user-generated advertising by sharing listening statistics.

This aligns with Deezer’s desire to strengthen the community and share dimensions around its products. With this in mind, the French service will enable its users to share data with other users on different platforms. Creating a “universal” sharing link allows you to share favorites with friends who use Spotify, Apple Music, TIDAL, Qobuz, or any other platform.
Personalization!
These features are accompanied by the possibility of redesigning your Deezer account’s graphic and ergonomic identity. By choosing which categories to display, customizing playlists, and creating covers, plus many other options, you can, according to Deezer, transform your account. Deezer’s emphasis on personalization ensures that you feel unique and catered to both visually and in terms of your usage habits.

Whether it’s a graphic redesign or an algorithm adjustment, Deezer understands that users expect their platform to adapt to their tastes and allow them to distinguish themselves from other users. At a time when streaming platforms tend to homogenize their features, Deezer is trying to set itself apart by focusing on meticulous functionality based on sharing and singularity. Will it be enough to expand internationally and win market share from the behemoth Spotify? W’ein a few months.
All these features will be available between April 28 and May 2. Coming soon! Now that you know all about Deezer’s new features, how can you make the most of it using Soundiiz?

It’s also possible that you haven’t been a Deezer customer until now. But the new features discussed in this article may have convinced you to take the plunge. Problem: you’ve been on Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, TIDAL, or Qobuz for 5 years, and you don’t want to lose all the data you’ve accumulated. It’s logical, and we’re all the same.

Soundiiz understands this, and from the outset, we’ve been committed to making it easier for you to listen to music on your streaming services. Our Transfer function was born of this realization.
